AT&T extends Smart Limits for Wireless to mobile web
AT&T announced the addition of new browsing restriction features to its AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless solution, which enables parents to establish parameters around their children's access to the mobile web by instituting a monetary or megabyte/gigabyte-based usage limit. In addition to limiting browsing time, the web-based AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless suite of tools also enables parents to filter access to Internet content deemed inappropriate for kids. AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless also offers parents tools to establish the times of day their child's phone may be used for messaging and outbound calls, define the number of texts and IMs allowed, block or allow calls to and from certain numbers and limit premium content downloads within a certain dollar amount. AT&T adds that limits can be adjusted at any time, meaning parents can increase mobile web access as circumstances warrant. The operator charges $4.99 per month per line for the service.
