AT&T extends U-verse Mobile TV to Android
AT&T (NYSE:T) expanded its new U-verse Mobile video service to a series of Android smartphones including the Samsung Captivate, HTC Aria and Motorola Bravo as well as the BlackBerry Curve 3G, enabling subscribers to download and watch their favorite television programming on the go, regardless of whether they're already a U-Verse customer. First announced earlier this month in connection with devices running the new Windows Phone 7 operating system, the U-verse Mobile application (available for download via both Android Market and BlackBerry App World) allows AT&T subscribers to browse or search a library of available programs for download over WiFi--in addition, AT&T U-verse TV customers can manage their home DVR recordings. U-verse Mobile access is free to AT&T customers with qualifying TV plans--users without a qualifying U-verse TV plan will be able to subscribe the service for $9.99 per month.
AT&T adds it will continue rolling out U-verse Mobile across its device portfolio in the months ahead.
