AT&T intros social networking aggregator app
AT&T announced the introduction of AT&T Social Net, a new mobile application combining access to premier social networking services including Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. AT&T Social Net--developed by mobile web solutions provider iSkoot--aggregates tweets, status updates, wall posts and related information from social communities as well as live news feeds from more than 35 news, sports and entertainment sites, offering a single carousel menu for user viewing and management--once subscribers populate the app with their information, they can see and respond to social networking activities across their communities, and set up alerts on new updates even when the app is closed. "Five of the top 10 searches on our mobile web portal are for social networking sites, a clear indication of the growing popularity of mobile social networking," said AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets vice president of voice and data products Mark Collins in a prepared statement.
AT&T Social Net is available now for free download via the operator's MEdia Mall portal, with about 20 handsets supporting the application.
