AT&T launches social-themed NCAA Football Fan Zone App
With the 2010-11 college football season in full swing, AT&T (NYSE:T) launched its new NCAA Football Fan Zone App, a free iPhone and iPod touch application fusing real-time pigskin updates with social networking tools. After downloading the NCAA Football Fan Zone App from Apple's App Store, users are instructed to choose a team or teams they wish to track--to select a totally random and non-subjective example, you might want to follow Michigan State University, which is 3-0 after its stunning victory over Notre Dame on Saturday. From there, users can chat with other members of that school's NCAA Football Fan Zone App group, sharing in-game comments, uploading photos or joining the postgame analysis.
To ramp up the smack talk, AT&T merges groups from opposing universities prior to kickoff, allowing all posts entered before, during and after the game to be visible to both teams. (The operator monitors all discussion to make sure it remains family-friendly.) Additional features: A live scoreboard, team schedules, discussion groups for weekly rankings and breaking news.
