AT&T launches Vans Warped Tour mobile apps
AT&T announced it will again sponsor the annual Vans Warped Tour punk-pop and extreme sports festival, with the operator also launching a series of mobile multimedia applications and services in conjunction with the event. At each tour stop AT&T will sponsor the AT&T Drop Inn, an area housing a series of interactive kiosks including Mobile Framerz (a mobile app allowing AT&T subscribers to upload camera phone photos into novelty frames for MMS transmission to family and friends), daily Guitar Hero Mobile competitions and the Make-UR-Tones ringtone customization app. AT&T will also launch Warped Tour Radio, an audio player streaming full-length songs from a number of tour acts--ringtones and ringbacks of these songs will also be sold via AT&T's MEdia Mall and Answer Tones store. Warped Tour Text Alerts will also track all the daily activities and performances, with localized data spotlighting band lineups, autograph session schedules and other exclusive offers like contests. The Vans Warped Tour 2008, which features 100 bands and spans 42 U.S. cities, launches Friday in Pomona, Calif.
