T-Mobile USA introduces free Bobsled Messaging for Android

Tools

T-Mobile USA is adding unlimited messaging services to its Bobsled free VoIP calling solution, enabling consumers to send and receive individual and group messages with friends and family from Android-powered smartphones and tablets.

Bobsled Messaging has free unlimited messaging.

The free, cloud-based Bobsled Messaging application, developed in conjunction with HDmessaging, allows Android owners to send rich media messages including photos, videos and location updates by leveraging any open data connection.

Consumers can communicate with other Android device users as well as iOS, Windows Phone and BlackBerry smartphones and even most feature phones, regardless of the recipient's carrier affiliation. Bobsled Messaging is available for download from Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android Market.

T-Mobile USA first issued Bobsled in April 2011. Powered by integrated voice services Vivox's VoiceEverywhere technology, Bobsled Calling enables users to place free Internet calls to friends logged into Facebook chat, eliminating the need for conventional dialing. Neither Facebook user needs to be a T-Mobile subscriber; only the caller is required to have installed Bobsled.

T-Mobile first expanded Bobsled to Android and Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS in October, introducing free calling from the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad as well as Android smartphones and tablets.
