T-Mobile USA yanks HD2 software update over bug concerns
T-Mobile USA announced it has removed the latest software update for HTC's Windows Mobile-based HD2, citing issues during download as well as additional bugs following successful downloads. Known problems include poor battery life, device freezing and crashing, and sluggish performance. "Support teams are engaged and working to resolve these issues so customers can take advantage of the many benefits this update will provide," notes a post on the operator's T-Mobile Community forum, which adds consumers who've successfully downloaded the HD2 update should continue using their device as normal. Once the problem is resolved, T-Mobile USA will re-post the update at www.t-Mobile.com/wmupgrade.
T-Mobile USA first announced plans to launch the HD2 in mid-February. The touchscreen device boasts Blockbuster on Demand, the video rental chain's first-ever video download application for smartphones--T-Mobile USA also teamed with Paramount Pictures to preload the studio's megahits Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen via the HD2's memory card, promising a viewing experience optimized for the handset's high-resolution, 4.3-inch screen.
