Target to begin selling Amazon's Kindle ereader

Tools

Big-box retailer Target will begin selling Amazon's Kindle ereader device, previously available exclusively via the online retail giant's Amazon's Kindle ereader to Targetdigital storefront. Target's flagship Minneapolis location as well as 102 stores in the south Florida market will offer the Kindle beginning April 25, with additional stores to follow later this year--the device will retail for $259. According to Target, the partnership enables consumers to now see and touch the Kindle before making a purchase.

First introduced in late 2007, Kindle enables consumers to wirelessly download books, magazines, newspapers and related content--Amazon's Kindle Store now boasts more than 500,000 titles, and the device is the company's best-selling item overall. Amazon has also introduced Kindle apps optimized for Apple's iPhone and BlackBerry smartphones.
