Telefonica Moviles teams with Scanbuy on barcodes

Spain's largest mobile operator Telefonica Moviles Espana and wireless commerce solutions provider Scanbuy announced the launch of a mobile barcode platform enabling subscribers to access content by pointing their camera phones at barcodes included in advertising, on TV, business cards and websites.

The integrated platform, which combines couponing/ticketing and print-to-mobile, promises access to online data and multimedia services from a variety of handsets while allowing content providers to create, manage, and monitor their barcodes and to launch promotional campaigns by sending barcodes within SMS or MMS. Information technology services provider Atos Origin was named to provide systems integration and project management services to bring the solution to market.
