TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 goes live on Android
Location-based services provider TeleNav introduced version 6.2 of its GPS Navigator solution for select devices running Android 2.1 and
up, adding new features like expanded Speech Recognition and Quick Search while touting enhanced local search content, additional listings and improved application speed. TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 introduces a Multiple Route Suggestions tool giving users up to three options overlaid on a map with route distance and estimated drive times--an updated Commute Alert feature enables consumers to set and receive automatic traffic condition updates at a pre-selected time, transmitted via e-mail, SMS or within the app itself. According to TeleNav, GPS Navigator 6.2 also adds millions of new points of interest to its search database, giving users access to over 22 million U.S. business locations, historical landmarks, airports and related destinations.
TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 is available via Android Market to AT&T (NYSE:T) devices like the Samsung Captivate, HTC Aria, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and Motorola Backflip--the app will expand to additional carriers and devices in the near future. As of Q3 2010, TeleNav serves more than 18 million paying subscribers in all, with support spanning over 500 types of mobile phones and all major operating systems.
