Tellme UI solution to launch on WinMo 6.5 phones

Tools

Microsoft subsidiary Tellme Networks announced its voice-based mobile user interface solution will be available for free on Windows Mobile 6.5-based handsets when the operating system is finally available for commercial release this fall. According to Tellme, acquired by Microsoft in March 2007 for a rumored $800 million, its service combines mobile content and communications by enabling users to press a single button and tell the phone what they wish to do, whether it's sending a text, searching the mobile web for information or making a voice call. Tellme notes that while it requires four touches and more than 20 keystrokes to find a business on Apple's iPhone, the same task takes just one button push and one verbal command on devices optimized with its service. In addition to embedding the Tellme UI solution on WinMo 6.5 handsets, Microsoft will also make it available for download via the forthcoming Windows Marketplace for Mobile application storefront.
