Texting survey proves people really suck sometimes

Tools

In yet further proof that we are very close to the end of civilization, 9 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers have turned to text messaging to end a romantic relationship, according to a new consumer study conducted by market strategy consultancy iGR. Gutless idiots between the ages of 18 and 24 are more likely to break up through a text message or to cancel a date via text than their older counterparts, iGR notes, and more male subscribers report both sending and receiving "goodbye" messages. iGR also found that in the last month, three U.S. consumers (two men and one woman) texted their spouse to ask for a divorce, and two men have received a text message asking for a divorce.

In additional findings from the iGR report, 1 percent of U.S. consumers have proposed marriage through SMS, and 1 percent of women have texted their partner to announce they're pregnant. Which might seem like positive news, but ask yourself this: Do you really think it's a good idea for anyone gutless or insensitive enough to propose via text to get married, let alone procreate?
