The Oscars really, really like mobile

Tools

Oscar.com, the official website of the Academy Awards, announced a series of online and mobile efforts in advance of this weekend's 80th annual Oscars presentation. Now playing is Road to the Oscars, an eight-episode, daily series spotlighting pre-Oscars events, interviews, style headlines and behind-the-scenes content--during the Oscar telecast, humorist and Los Angeles Times columnist Joel Stein will also blog live from the red carpet during arrivals and backstage during the show. Oscar.com will also enable fans to upload their own acceptance speeches, compete in a "Predict the Winners" game, and add to their social networking profile pages an embeddable Oscar widget featuring video, a full list of nominees, news and trivia. An enhanced Oscar mobile site will deliver all the content featured on Oscar.com along with alerts and additional trivia games. ABC will televise the 80th Annual Academy Awards at 8 p.m. EST, Sunday, Feb. 24.
