Thumbplay launches ringtone charts

Thumbplay launched its own weekly ringtone sales charts today based on download activity from its direct-to-consumer portal. Interestingly, the stats will also include figures on which handset models are downloading the most content. The list includes the top ten downloaded ringtones, but here's just the top three: Ne-Yo's "So Sick," Black Eyed Peas' "Pump it" and Chamillionaire's "Ridin." The top handset models were the Motorola V3, the LG C2000 and the Nokia 6010. The company says it sells about 1,600 unique ringtones each week, which online tracker Hitwise says makes Thumbplay the leading online Web site in the mobile content industry.
