Thumbplay tunes in deal with Clear Channel Radio
Mobile entertainment service provider Thumbplay announced a partnership with Clear Channel Radio to introduce customized mobile content stores across more than 650 of the broadcast media conglomerate's local station websites throughout 2008. Thumbplay content will be contextually featured in web features including the "Just Played" box and "Top 20 On Demand" lists on all participating local stations' home pages. Links to the mobile content storefront will also be featured in the "Last 10 Played" playlist on each site, while a customizable widget enables DJs at each station to choose their favorite ringtones and update their selections online. Thumbplay has already launched mobile content stores on more than 100 Clear Channel local websites in markets including Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston, Washington D.C., Atlanta and Houston.
"Many of our listeners first discover their favorite songs on radio," said Clear Channel Online Music & Radio vice president of business and product development Larry Linietsky in a prepared statement. "We can now connect the dots by delivering a broad selection of mobile content, including exclusive station-created ringtones and graphics, right to our listeners via our stations' websites."
