TiVo launches mobile web service

Digital video recording giant TiVo announced the launch of TiVo Mobile, a free mobile website enabling both subscribers and non-subscribers to browse, search and discover television programming regardless of their handset's operating system, carrier affiliation or web browser. According to TiVo, the mobile site (built in conjunction with application development agency Mobui) is optimized for small-screen use, enabling visitors to search for programs by actor, title, director and keyword--additional functions include Daily Recommendations and Most Popular. The TiVo Mobile site also features an "If you like this..." recommendation tool. While any mobile subscriber can use the TiVo site to browse upcoming programming, TiVo subscribers may schedule recordings on their Series2 or Series3 TiVo boxes directly through the site.
