Trend: India goes m-gaming to consoles

Tools

An interesting development in India suggests mobile gamers, the gaming segment which has powered the Indian gaming industry, may be turning to console games. The proliferation of the Internet probably has a lot to with it. Over 100 million people will be online by 2007, and 30 to 40 percent of Internet café revenue stems from online gaming customers. Software piracy and a longer development time (compared with mobile game development) are issues within the industry there, but a growing middle class and increasing broadband coverage will drive revenue from online PC games to $200 million by 2010, according to a Pearl Research report.
