Turner Sports upgrades PGA Championship App for iPhone
Turner Broadcasting System's Turner Sports broadcast unit announced its multi-platform coverage of the 92nd PGA Championship will include an upgraded iPhone application giving consumers the chance to focus their viewing on some of golf's biggest superstars. Turner Sports' presentation of the PGA Championship--the 2010 season's final major, taking place Aug. 12 through Aug. 15 in Kohler, Wisc.--will include 20 hours of live television coverage on cable's TNT; in addition, the PGA.com website will feature bonus coverage devoted to two notable threesome pairings, the first following Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh and defending champ Y.E. Yang, the other tracking Phil Mickelson, Graeme McDowell and Louis Oosthuizen.
Turner's PGA Championship App promises live scoring and instant updates throughout the tournament for free--a $1.99 in-app purchase option enables iPhone owners to follow marquee pairings across all four days of the event, as well as live video streaming of all par-3 holes. The application additionally offers push notifications to alert users of their favorite golfers' progress.
