Twitter for BlackBerry v1.1 exits beta, goes live on App World
Research In Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) officially launched its Twitter for BlackBerry v1.1 application after six weeks of BlackBerry Beta Zone user testing.
New features include Tweet Location, which automatically identifies the user's neighborhood and offers the option to integrate that data into their tweets--the BlackBerry for Twitter revamp also streamlines the app homescreen, adds updated graphics and incorporates language support for both simplified and traditional Chinese, Polish, Czech and Thai. Twitter for BlackBerry v1.1 will go live across the BlackBerry App World storefront within the next 24 hours.
RIM first released Twitter for BlackBerry in April 2010. Earlier this month, Twitter reported that the app experienced a 51 percent increase in monthly use during the first quarter of 2011. Mobile tweets now make up over 40 percent of all Twitter posts, with 50 percent of all active Twitter users also active on mobile.
