Universal Music teams with m-Wise for mobile content storefronts
Universal Music Group has teamed with mobile content technology vendor m-Wise on fully managed mobile storefront solutions offered both in English and Spanish. Per terms of the partnership, m-Wise and UMG will launch a centralized system supporting mobile content sales, reporting, tracking and payments to artists--m-Wise's m-Store platform will enable the label to promote free content, sell individual content and assemble media bundles. m-Store will also provide full carrier integration at a variety of price points, and will fully integrate with UMG mobile partners like Echospin and Netbiscuits.
The m-Wise deal furthers UMG's efforts to reach the fast-growing Latin music market. In April, the company expanded its partnership with mobile engagement solutions provider Mozes to premiere new direct-to-consumer mobile content and services targeting Spanish-speaking and bilingual music fans. The Mozes Connect platform provides Spanish-language support enabling UMG artists to establish more direct connections with Latin music fans, introducing mobile campaigns including text updates, mobile sweepstakes and widgets--campaigns can also extend to artists' Facebook and Twitter pages.
