USA Today publishes free Android app
Gannett-owned newspaper USA Today announced the launch of a free mobile application developed for Google's Android operating system and available for download from the Android Market virtual storefront. Developed in cooperation with Mercury Intermedia, the USA Today app promises access to news, sports scores, photos and interactive polls. Android users may share articles via email, SMS or Twitter, as well as check out current weather conditions, up-to-the-minute regional radar and five-day forecasts determined via GPS. In addition, the app features support for a host of rich media mobile advertising executions including click-to-call, location-based click-to-maps and video--campaigns can be targeted to the various sections such as News, Money, Sports, Life, Tech or Travel.
USA Today is the nation's top-selling newspaper, with a total average daily circulation of 2.3 million--the publication's website also reaches more than 3 million visitors daily.
