V Cast Music with Rhapsody launches on Verizon
Almost a year after announcing an agreement to merge their online digital music stores under the Rhapsody America banner, MTV Networks and RealNetworks officially launched their V Cast Music with Rhapsody mobile service via Verizon Wireless. Promising unlimited access to music on up to three compatible handsets, portable media devices and/or PCs for $14.99 per month, V CAST Music with Rhapsody additionally enables a la carte purchases for $1.99 per download--Verizon subscribers who buy songs over-the-air may also download a DRM-free master copy to their PC. According to Verizon, V Cast Music with Rhapsody features more than 5 million full-length songs--users may create their own playlists and view other users' playlists. While the operator cites the forthcoming LG Chocolate 3 as "the marquee V Cast Music with Rhapsody device," the service is also available on handsets including the LG Decoy and LG Dare, the MOTO W755, the Samsung Glyde and the Samsung Juke.
