Verizon alters VCast subscription costs

Tools

First Verizon dumps the monthly $15 VCast subscription charge needed to access its VCast Music store. Now, the operator has introduced an optional daily subscription rate, where for $3 subscribers can access the full range of VCast services over a 24-hour span. VCast VP of digital media John Harrobin says the option is designed to attract the more impulse-buy consumer normally put off by the hefty $15 monthly bill.

The question is, will this option serve to bring more users to the VCast table, or cannibalize its existing $15-monthly base? Subscribers who access the VCast service for more than five days a month will be best off sticking with the subscription.
