Verizon cranks up live video from Coachella music fest
Verizon Wireless announced it will stream selected live performances from this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, which runs April 16 to 18 in Indio, Calif. Beginning Friday at 2:00 pm ET, Verizon's V Cast Video services will offer both live and archived footage featuring Coachella acts including hip-hop icon Jay-Z, reunited indie-rock legends Pavement, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and hard-rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures. The content is included as part of the regular V Cast Video subscription package, which retails for $10 a month.
This year marks the 11th Coachella festival, and the first to air over mobile devices. Previous headliners include Paul McCartney, Madonna and Prince. Held annually at Indio's Empire Polo Fields, the festival also features installation art, sculpture and related visual entertainment.
