Verizon launches in-cinema text polling program
Verizon Wireless announced a new text message polling program enabling moviegoers to interact with the prefilm entertainment. Developed by cinema advertising firm Screenvision and scheduled to debut June 10 in 10 metropolitan U.S. markets across 3,500 showtimes, the text initiative poses questions on moviegoers' music preferences and offers them an option to text their responses, with the real-time audience results displayed on the movie screen. The program is part of Screenvision's host-format entertainment preshow, which airs on roughly 7,000 movie screens across the country. The preshow will also feature two Verizon Wireless-produced short films, one promoting the operator's V Cast Song ID service and the other an original two-minute clip directed by Spike Lee and featuring pop acts ranging from Chris Cornell to Timbaland.
