Verizon launches original House of Payne mobisodes
Verizon Wireless announced it will launch a series of original made-for-mobile shorts spotlighting cable superstation TBS's hit sitcom House of Payne. Available via the operator's V Cast Video service, the House of Payne mobisodes were all directed by series creator Tyler Perry, whose most recent feature film Why Did I Get Married? is the current U.S. box-office champion, grossing an estimated $21.5 million in its debut last weekend. House of Payne, which premiered on TBS in the spring of 2006, set a cable record for sitcom ratings, with viewership of 5.2 and 5.8 million for its first two episodes. It remains television's top-rated program among African-American adults ages 18 to 49.
The House of Payne mobisodes are available via the TBS Very Funny channel, launched by Verizon in July. The V Cast channel also includes clips from classic comedies including Seinfeld and The King of Queens as well as previews of upcoming programming including the late night series Frank TV.
