Verizon teams with AirSage for real-time traffic data
Verizon Wireless announced an agreement to supply non-identifying data to wireless signaling data solutions provider AirSage to bolster real-time traffic information and improve travel applications for consumers, businesses and government agencies. Per terms of the agreement, signaling data from use on the Verizon network will be made anonymous and integrated into AirSage's patented Wireless Signal Extraction Technology platform, enabling live traffic monitoring on major interstates, highways and arterials across the U.S. According to Verizon, the deal will improve the accuracy of AirSage services by quadrupling the number of signaling messages to more than 12 billion when the data is fully integrated.
AirSage data powers applications including Google Maps, Real Traffic and the firm's own AirSage Real-Time Traffic. In addition, the company is building out location-enhanced services for the retail, financial and emergency management industries.
