The Backup Assistant Plus application enables Verizon Wireless subscribers to schedule data backup cycles for subsequent access across any compatible connected device, including mobile phones, tablets or the desktop. The service also simplifies contact and content transfers when consumers purchase a new device. Verizon offers 500 MB of free Backup Assistant Plus storage--subscribers with large numbers of photos, music files and videos on their phones can also purchase additional storage levels for a monthly fee.
Verizon Wireless is rolling out Backup Assistant Plus across the Droid Razr and HTC Rezound smartphones. The operator promises the app will expand to additional devices during the next few months.
Verizon launched the premium V Cast Media Manager cloud storage solution in the fall of 2010. Pricing starts at $2.99 per month for 25GB of storage. V Cast Media Manager enables Verizon subscribers to upload and backup their files for subsequent web or mobile download, as well as organize music and video playlists, photo albums and folders. Consumers may also share user-generated, non-copyrighted media with family and friends, post files to Facebook or MySpace and print their favorite photos.
