Verizon Wireless on tour with Fergie
Verizon Wireless announced a partnership with pop star Fergie to deliver a suite of interactive mobile applications tied to her new concert tour. The Fergie Verizon VIP Tour will eliminate traditional paper ticketing--concertgoers will instead gain access via over-the-air photo messages delivered directly to their handsets. Each tour stop will also feature green screens enabling fans to appear in personalized Fergie music videos sent to their phones. In addition, Verizon will launch Fergie-TV, a new V Cast video-on-demand service featuring style and relationship tips as well as an interactive text service enabling fans to pose questions to the star.
"This tour represents the future of how artists stay connected to their fans," said Verizon Wireless senior VP of marketing and digital music John Harrobin in a prepared statement. "Fergie is using the technology to stay connected with her fans in a very unique way. Fans can download her music, get tickets to the show, interact with her after the show and prepare to attend the show, wirelessly. That kind of interactivity was unheard of just a few years ago. With this tour, Fergie is introducing an entirely new standard for the industry."
