Verizon Wireless premieres BilltoMobile payment service

Tools

Verizon Wireless announced an agreement with Danal to launch the transactions solutions provider's BilltoMobile service later this spring, enabling subscribers to charge online purchases of digital goods directly to their monthly mobile bill. According to Verizon Wireless, customers can employ BilltoMobile to purchase online content and digital goods downloaded to their personal computers--the operator will work with Danal to deliver a secure connection as well as subscriber authentication and fraud protection tools.

BilltoMobile spans Verizon Wireless-approved content at online stores like social networks, gaming sites and virtual communities--consumers may also purchase game subscriptions.  To conduct a transaction, subscribers click the BilltoMobile button during checkout on participating sites; after entering their mobile number, they receive a text message containing a one-time passcode. Once the passcode is typed into the online checkout window, the transaction is complete. Verizon will institute a $25 monthly spending limit for BilltoMobile purchases.

Danal has introduced its direct mobile billing services across 14 operator networks in the Asia-Pacific market, generating more than $2 billion in transactions and partnering with over 10,000 merchants.
