Veveo debuts vTap for iPhone, Windows Mobile
Mobile video service provider Veveo introduced vTap, a web video discovery service enabling users to search, browse and view web videos via supported mobile phones. Available now to Apple iPhone and Microsoft Windows Mobile phone users, vTap employs a character-based incremental search refined as more characters are entered, enabling users to find desired content without entering full keywords or phrases--the service also offers intuitive browsing support and hierarchical search results. Veveo also maintains a continually-updated index of web videos, promising users access to the most timely and relevant content.
"Mobile users often find themselves in environments where there is a need for immediate fulfillment of an impromptu desire to be distracted, entertained or inspired," said Veveo co-founder and CEO Murali Aravamudan in a prepared statement. "vTap's comprehensive web video index, coupled with its intuitive search and browse discovery mechanisms, delivers a web video experience with the power and functionality of a traditional desktop application, on a mobile device."

Is this another company using the word "iPhone" to get attention? Of course, there is no information on their web site about how these videos are played. Things is, unless video is encoded, specifically, to play through Quicktime in Safari on the iPhone, it won't work. No regular Quicktime, Flash, or Windows Media video can be viewed. Good or bad, this is the current state of video on the iPhone.
So how are we supposed to search & access this vast collection of video on the web, via the iPhone??? Can anyone straighten me out on this?... sounds like nonsense.

The link above has more information on how it works. I dont want to further comment as I have never used it on iPhone.
Though I have tried the demo on vtap.com which shows what it will be on your phone. Did you ever tried that ? Can you tell me which other search feature allows me to search for video contents like that ? And I wanted to watch ShmooCon videos, all I had to do was type "shmoo". Is there anything, remotely close to this search feature vtap provides, that you can point me to ?
