Vibes Media helps CBS Radio to embrace SMS

CBS Radio announced a 41-station text messaging deal with Vibes Media that the network hopes will curb the loss of young listeners and rekindle advertiser interest in the medium. Vibes is providing its iRadio Instant Response technology, which allows DJs to keep text messaging going with listeners and makes contests much easier for the radio station's staff. Typically, radio contests ask listeners to call in with the answer to some trivia question, but with the iRadio solution, listener can simply text the answer to the station. The station's staff can let the automated system sort them, rather than answering all those calls themselves. The station can also send a text in response to all those listeners that entered the contest with a coupon to a local store or some other form of advertisement.
