Village Voice rolls out nightlife guide apps on iPhone

Alternative newsweekly publisher Village Voice Media Holdings launched a series of new iPhone applications corresponding with properties in seven major U.S. cities. The free apps--which span New York City's flagship Village Voice as well as SF Weekly, LA Weekly, Minneapolis CityPages, Houston Press, Phoenix New Times and Denver's Westword--include listings for hundreds of concerts and events, all sortable by date, location or neighborhood, as well as thousands of restaurant reviews and Editor's Picks culled from Village Voice Media experts in each city. The apps also boast local nightlife coverage and photo slideshows from recent area events. Village Voice Media previously issued Happy Hours, a mobile app enabling consumers in 40 markets to identify nearby bar specials.
