Sprint's (NYSE:S) Virgin Mobile USA prepaid unit introduced Virgin Mobile Live 2.0, a free music app promising live performances as well as social media integration. Available to all Android users (including non-Virgin customers), Virgin Mobile Live 2.0 includes access to a music stream hosted by DJ Abbey Braden alongside clips from past Virgin Mobile FreeFest performances--beginning next week, the app will also feature content from Virgin's Live House showcase at the 2011 South by Southwest conference. Users can additionally check in at upcoming events and performances, including Lady Gaga tour stops in the U.S., and sync their status updates to Facebook and Twitter.

Sprint acquired Virgin Mobile USA in mid-2009 for a total equity value of $483 million. Virgin Mobile Live first rolled out on BlackBerry smartphones in May 2010.
