Visa, Chase charge into mobile marketing effort
Payment and credit solutions goliath Visa announced an agreement with financial services firm JPMorgan Chase to launch a consumer pilot delivering merchant offers directly to Chase credit and debit cardholders' mobile devices. The offers, which include discount coupons and specials, are personalized according to personal interests selected by Chase customers; Visa's Mobile Platform technology suite will deliver the offers via SMS, with brands including Macy's, Marriott, Old Navy, Papa John's Pizza and Circle K among the merchants participating in the program. Visa and Chase plan to review the pilot during the fourth quarter to evaluate the impact of mobile offers on stakeholder interest, cardholder engagement, and card usage.
