Visa teases 'significant' m-commerce announcement coming soon

Payment and credit solutions giant Visa said Thursday it will unveil a "significant" announcement about its mobile commerce ambitions sometime this month, possibly as soon as next week. Details are scarce--Visa CEO Joseph Saunders only said that the company is "working with different types of entities." Late last month, Visa made an unspecified investment in Square, whose increasingly popular mobile payment solution enables users to accept credit and debit card purchases anywhere and anytime via iPhone, iPad or Android smartphone.
