Vivendi Universal Games Mobile agrees to BREW

Tools

Vivendi Universal Games (VUG) Mobile has inked an agreement with QUALCOMM to become a publisher of wireless games on the company's BREW solution. VUG Mobile is already working on BREW-compatible versions of some of its top selling games. VUG said it will debut the BREW versions at the upcoming E3 conference on May 10 and the Mobile Entertainment Market Europe at the end of May.

I had a chance to chat with the head of VUG Mobile, Paul Maglione, at CTIA last week. Paul mentioned the QUALCOMM announcement and said the company's Paris studio for developers will expand as will the U.S.-based operations. VUG Mobile's output is currently about one title per month. By the second half of the year it should be up to about two a month, which sees the company generating about 18 titles in 2007. About 60 percent of the games are developed internally right now, but that will increase as the developer teams build out. The mobile content job market is really tight right now as everyone is expanding their teams--yet another sign of a healthy market.
