Vodafone files suit against T-Mobile over iPhone
Vodafone's German unit is dialing up its opposition to rival operator T-Mobile's exclusive partnership with Apple, which requires iPhone buyers to commit to two-year T-Mobile service contracts. Claiming the terms of the Apple deal are uncompetitive according to German law, Vodafone has been granted a temporary injunction against T-Mobile, with a Hamburg court hearing scheduled in two weeks--Vodafone said it does not want to halt T-Mobile's iPhone sales, but wants consumers to be granted the freedom to select their own network provider. "We believe that T-Mobile has breached a local law in Germany," a Vodafone spokesman told the BBC.
