Vodafone gives thumbs-up to mobile game reviews

Vodafone announced an agreement with mobile games website PocketGamer.co.uk to launch independent game reviews and consumer recommendations via the operator's Vodafone Live! portal. PocketGamer will supply reviews, scores and comments--Vodafone subscribers may also visit the publication's WAP site. Last month, PocketGamer launched a print magazine devoted to mobile gaming in association with T-Mobile. "Our ongoing mission with Pocket Gamer has always been to celebrate the unique mobile gaming experience, help grow the market beyond the 1 in 20 mobile subscribers who are currently downloading and to provide the industry with a quality barometer ensuring that new mobile gamers have a good first experience," said Chris James, managing director of PocketGamer.co.uk parent firm Steel Media. "These syndicated reviews provide consumers with a direct indication of the quality of games at the very point of purchase and our hope is that they will help to drive sales of titles based on merit rather than the license attached."
