Vodafone, Telefonica invest in Amobee
Mobile advertising solutions provider Amobee Media Systems announced that operators Vodafone and Telefonica have each made strategic minority investments in the company, joining existing investors Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners and Globespan. Amobee, which launched its first live consumer trial in March 2006, now touts deals with Vodafone in the Greece, Czech Republic and Spain markets and with Vodafone via the operator's O2 subsidiary. "We see a tremendous opportunity for brands to target segments that traditional media reach less efficiently and help them run truly integrated communication campaigns," said Vodafone's director of strategic marketing and communication planning Frank Boulben in a prepared statement. "We're working with Amobee in three markets to develop mobile advertising approaches that will deliver revenue for Vodafone whilst ensuring our customers enjoy a richer mobile experience."
