Vringo inks video ringtone deal with Universal
Video ringtone sharing community developer Vringo announced a trial licensing agreement with Universal Music Group, enabling Vringo subscribers to personalize viral video ringtones (a.k.a. "Vringos") via clips from UMG music videos. Universal has formatted for the Vringo platform music videos ranging from Rihanna's "SOS" to Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The clips are available to Vringo beta users and may be acquired online by registered trial participants at the company's website.
"The Universal Music Group videos being delivered to Vringo customers showcase the world's most popular artists and musicians, performing their landmark hits," said Rob Wells, UMG senior VP-Digital. "We are pleased to make our artists available to an even wider and more connected worldwide audience through this service."
