Yahoo Go for Mobile 2.0 goes international
Internet giant Yahoo announced the official launch of its Go for Mobile 2.0 web platform, which bowed in beta in January 2007 and is now available across the U.S. In addition, Yahoo will debut beta versions in 13 international markets including Canada, France, Germany and the U.K. According to Yahoo, the U.S. iteration of Go for Mobile 2.0 will be available across 200 handsets by late July, expanding to an additional 400 devices by year's end. The service will also arrive pre-loaded on devices from Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG and HTC.
Yahoo said Go for Mobile 2.0 features enhancements including increased speed and reduced loading times, expanded e-mail services, satellite and hybrid maps, calendar and contacts, and enhanced search. "Today's launch signals to the world that Yahoo Go is ready for primetime. With the tremendous consumer response to date we believe that Yahoo Go will be a catalyst for broader adoption of the mobile Internet," said Yahoo executive VP, Connected Life Division Marco Boerries in a prepared statement. "People want easy access to the Internet on their mobile phones, and Yahoo Go 2.0 offers content, access and answers wherever you are."
