YouTube enables mobile uploads

Tools

The online video portal YouTube has enabled video uploads from users' mobile phones. YouTube is a community site where users post original (supposedly) videos that the service ranks by number of views. Occasionally copyrighted material finds its way onto the site, but there is a lot of seemingly meaningless original content on there, too. Enabling mobile uploads to the service is a no-brainer as most of its users are bound to have a video camera phone. The new feature and others like it are sure to help the somewhat lukewarm MMS sector. I had a chance to check out Juicecaster's competing service, which is based on the mobile-PC connection, and aside from a few bugs it may be a better solution. Juice offers more personalization with a user profile as a sidebar. Also, and perhaps more importantly, it allows not only uploads from the mobile but access to the service itself for viewing video posts and profiles.
