Zong payment service combines operator billing, credit cards
Mobile payment solutions provider Zong announced the launch of Zong+, an online mobile payment platform fusing carrier billing with credit, debit and prepaid cards. According to Zong, customers may now make online purchases through their mobile phone bill as well as connect any type of payment card to their Zong account through a one-time entry process by entering their mobile number and confirming the security transaction code sent to their handset, allowing for larger purchase amounts and extending mobile payment options to merchants who were previously unable to leverage the higher conversion rates due to accompanying fees or limited price points. In addition, consumers will receive automatically redeemable rewards for every dollar spent through the Zong+ service.
Zong's payment experience is featured in applications on Facebook, MySpace, and hi5 and integrated with virtual worlds and gaming sites like Gaia Online, IMVU, Mochi Media and Outspark. Its transaction platform processed payments for more than 10 million unique users in the first 10 months of 2009.
