Zynga kills off 11 titles
Struggling social games maker Zynga (NASDAQ:ZNGA) is sunsetting 11 titles, including mobile efforts like Mafia Wars Shakedown, Forestville, Mojitomo and Word Scramble Challenge. Some have already been removed from app stores, while others are no longer accepting new players and will be phased out over the next several weeks. Zynga will continue to operate more than 30 games across mobile and desktop platforms.
Zynga stock has been in freefall since the company's late-2011 IPO, a decline blamed on challenges including algorithmic changes made by Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) and diminishing mobile traffic for OMGPOP's Draw Something, which it acquired for about $180 million in March. More than half a dozen senior executives have left Zynga in recent months, and in October, the firm shuttered its Boston studio and reduced staffing levels in its Austin, Texas division. Article
