LinkedIn announced it acquired mobile news app Pulse, from Alphonso Labs, in a deal valued at $90 million.

This just in: Nobody wants to download and keep coming back to your second-rate, machine-curated, me-too newsreader app, so don't bother working on it anymore. If you really want to capitalize on human interest in current affairs, it's better to go where the humans are and approach them a lot differently.

LinkedIn will purchase Alphonso Labs, the startup behind newsreader application Pulse, AllThingsD reports. Citing sources familiar with the negotiations, the report states LinkedIn will pay between $50 million and $100 million, beating out rival suitors including Microsoft and Yahoo.
