AT&T, Boingo ink international Wi-Fi roaming deal

AT&T and Boingo Wireless announced a reciprocal Wi-Fi roaming deal that will give AT&T subscribers access to Boingo's global network of Wi-Fi hotspots in major international airports. Additionally, Boingo customers traveling in the United States will get access to AT&T's Wi-Fi hotspot network throughout the country, including at airports, restaurants, sporting arenas and retail locations.

AT&T to buy spectrum, 21,000 customers from C Spire's Corr subsidiary

AT&T Mobility is working to acquire the spectrum and subscribers of Corr Wireless, a wireless carrier that provides 2G GSM service in rural parts of Northeastern Alabama. Cellular South, now C Spire Wireless, acquired Corr in 2010 but now appears to be selling the company's spectrum and customers--21,000 of them--to AT&T. Terms of the deal, which still requires FCC approval, were not disclosed.

Verizon's McAdam leaves door open to dropping wireless contracts

Verizon Communications CEO Lowell McAdam said Verizon Wireless could easily drop wireless contracts in the wake of T-Mobile USA's decision to do so--if consumers start asking for it. His comments reiterate what other top industry executives have said: That they will be watching to see how the market reacts to T-Mobile's new model and will respond accordingly.

HD Voice: AT&T, Sprint promise it this year, but Verizon targets late 2013, early 2014

AT&T reaffirmed its plans to launch HD Voice service on its LTE network this year, but other Tier 1 carriers are not rushing to embrace the technology. Verizon Wireless, for example, will not push HD Voice through its Voice over LTE technology until late in 2013 or early 2014.

Report: AT&T could bundle Aereo's TV service with wireless data

Aereo, which streams local TV broadcast signals online to smartphones, tablets and other IP-connected devices for a fee, could strike a partnership with AT&T Mobility, according to a  Wall Street Journal  report.
