Apple announced an agreement to wirelessly stream video clips from Google-owned user-generated content site YouTube via the computing giant's forthcoming iPhone device, arriving at retail June 29. According to Apple, more than 10,000 videos will be available at iPhone launch, with YouTube on target to make its full catalog of videos available by fall 2007.
Qualcomm, WMG team for artist-branded themes

News from BREW 2007 in sunny San Diego: Warner Music Group announced an agreement with conference host Qualcomm to develop a series of over-the-air, downloadable, artist-branded themes for mobile handsets based on the wireless data solutions provider's uiOne user interface initiative. Heralding Qualcomm's first uiOne partnership with a major content publisher, the WMG themes will encompass ringtones, wallpapers, full-track songs and games in a single file download--in addition, WMG will offer mobile skins enabling consumers to customize the look and feel of their handsets.

"Warner Music's decision to create themes for its artists validates not only the advantages of the uiOne offering, but also the opportunity that exists across the entire wireless marketplace to deliver a customized user experience to mobile customers," said Qualcomm Internet Services senior director and head of brand and affinity services Brian Dunphy in a prepared statement. "The uiOne offering provides an avenue for promoting additional content to subscribers and further driving wireless data use for content providers and wireless service providers alike."
